Episode 1: Restructuring the banking sector in Lebanon, the last chance.

Episode 1: Restructuring the banking sector in Lebanon, the last chance.

This discussion is part of a three-part series exploring perspectives on the economic crisis in Lebanon.

Speaker:
Dr. Henri Chaoul - Financial Advisor and Co-Founder of Levantine Partners

Description
Over the past few months, Dr. Henri Chaoul and a team of experts  have been working on an alternative, pragmatic and comprehensive solution to Lebanon’s financial and banking problems, taking into consideration the debate and blockages that took place over the last 18 months.

This “middle ground” alternative plan, presented by Dr. Chaoul, addresses head-on the system losses, ensuring: (1) a fair and equitable distribution of those losses amongst all constituents: the State, the depositors, the Eurobond holders, and bank shareholders; as well as: (2) the long term viability and sustainability of the country’s debt to support economic recovery.

We are at a critical juncture; policy makers can still take decisive action towards a comprehensive solution that can make the difference between a lost decade and a rapid recovery.
